The Dräger PARAT 5550 is a fire escape hood in a flame-retardant casing. It was specially developed for use by fire rescue teams in casualty rescue operations. Its main advantage: The PARAT 5550 is an approved system in accordance with EN 137:2006, Type 2, together with the Dräger breathing apparatus.

"Ready for use" increases safety
With the EN 137:2006, Type 2 and EN 403:2004 approved combination of breathing apparatus, fire escape hood and casing, Dräger is taking a step further in the field of casualty rescue. The fire escape hood can be carried with the rescuer without restricting his freedom of movement (e.g. on top of the breathing apparatus). It is there when you need it. The rapid opening of the Dräger PARAT 5550 contributes to the safety of the person being rescued.

Always with you, always ready
Since it is not always possible to know in advance whether there are people at the scene, it is recommended to carry the fire escape hood at all times. The fire escape hood provides protection against highly toxic fire-related gases such as carbon dioxide, as well as vapours and particles, for at least 15 minutes. When worn continuously, the PARAT 5550 also saves lives in emergency respiratory protection situations, for example when the air supply is cut off.

Easy to open, intuitive to use
The Dräger PARAT 5550 system solution simplifies carrying, opening and donning the fire escape hood: The wearer simply opens the cover, removes the foil bag containing the escape hood, easily opens it through the holes, even while wearing gloves, and helps the rescued person to put it on. Clearly visible illustrated instructions explain the donning procedure.

More than just an accessory
With its reflective strips, the cover is clearly visible from a distance. The material used is machine washable. The inner label can also be used to write identification information, i.e. the cover can be labelled with the name of the person concerned. The cover can be attached to the breathing apparatus using the integrated belt clip with emergency release or approved accessories such as a shoulder strap or carabiner clip. Optional accessory pockets (small and large) for additional equipment such as wedges or hooks can be ordered separately.

Cost-effectiveness over a long service life
The PARAT 5550 has an eight-year service life and the filter is well protected by the filter plugs during this period. This allows the head to be stored for a period of time without any problems before use. The expiration date of the filter is visible from the outside of the foil bag, allowing for cost-effective maintenance. Thanks to the filter plugs, the product can be used even if the foil bag is punctured.
